Michaywe' is a four-season recreational and residential community nestled in the winding hills and lush woodlands south of Gaylord. Fresh lakes and streams provide a beautiful backdrop for over eight hundred homes.

Established in 1970, Michaywe' has grown at a steady, easy pace. This peaceful four-season recreational and residential community is nestled in the winding hills and lush woodlands south of Gaylord. Over 2000 acres of forest, lakes and streams creates the backdrop for over 800 homes.

The community is a blend of many different lifestyles. The natural beauty of the area coupled with the amenities makes this a wonderful place to retire, raise a family or enjoy that vacation home of your dreams.

Amenities / Recreational Facilities

Michaywé property owners have exclusive use of the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa, sauna and tennis courts located at the main clubhouse as well as the Opal Lake Beach House.

Several of the special features of Michaywé are open to the public. Groomed cross country ski trails, nature areas, and our championship golf course all add to the enjoyment of all seasons. Our outstanding restaurant, Inn The Woods is open every day except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Activities

In addition to the amenities, the Michaywé Owners Association sponsors a variety of activities in which members are able to participate:

  • Opal Lake Park Picnics
  • Mixed League Bowling (October through April)
  • Michaywe Childrens Play Group
  • Men's and Women's Golf Leagues
  • A needlework club, book club, plus weekly bridge, pinochle and euchre clubs.

Michaywe holds many special celebrations which include a Christmas Luncheon, a Christmas Dinner Dance, a Spring Luncheon, themed golf outings and the end of summer chili cook-off.

The Michaywe Pool Hours are 9:00 am - 8:00 pm daily.

Opal Lake Park is Open during the summer months. Park Hours are 11:00 am - 7:00 pm daily.

Michaywe Office Hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Michaywe Governance

The Association is a non-profit organization which was formed to manage and administer the affairs of an association of property owners in a Planned Unit Development (PUD) known as Michaywe; to promote the welfare of its members by maintaining and beautifying the several developments and subdivisions in which its members own or possess real property interests; to enforce building and use restrictions; to represent members before governmental boards or bodies; to promote social and recreational activities; and to engage in such other activities as are incidental thereto and not forbidden by the laws of the State of Michigan.

Deed Restrictions - Restricted Properties

The Master Deed Restrictions for the Michaywe Planned Unit Development (PUD) is the governing document upon all the property within Michaywe.  This document defines what the restricted properties are (i.e. lots, parks and other lands) and how they can be used (building requirements, restrictions, fines, etc.).  This document is recorded at the Otsego County Register of Deeds and is a lien and encumbrance upon the land.

MICHAYWÉ ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR

PREPARES FOR ITS 33rd YEAR

Friday August 12, 2011 Noon to 6:00pm     

Saturday August 13, 2011 10:00am to 4:00pm

 
The dates and times of the annual Michaywé Arts and Crafts Fair will be Friday, August 12th from Noon to 6 pm and Saturday's schedule will be from 10 am to 4 pm.  Over 80 returning and new artists and craftspeople will be on hand regardless of weather conditions, in booths located in a beautiful park-like setting.  Among the quality handcrafted items are ceramics, woodcrafts, dried flowers, jewelry, candles, country crafts, toys, baskets, and stained glass. Lawn ornaments and a variety of clothing, as well as paintings in acrylics, oil, and watercolors, will be sold. Foods offered for sale include sausage, breads, dips, jams, jellies and kettle korn.  Lunch and beverages will be available at the Michaywé Pro Shop and at the “Inn the Woods” Clubhouse restaurant.
 
The Michaywé Art Fair has grown substantially over the last 32 years, and includes not only local artisans, but those from Florida to Michigan’s U.P. and from Arizona to Maine. The outstanding and varied offerings have resulted in attendance surpassing 2,000. Fair committee chairperson Ann Wilson and 25 other volunteer committee members have been working hard to present another outstanding event. As an added feature, Gaylord radio station 101.5 FM will air a remote broadcast from the fair.
 
The Michaywe clubhouse and grounds are located at 1535 Opal Lake Road, six miles south of Gaylord, off Old 27 and Charles Brink Road. Parking is available at Opal Lake Road and Northstar Road, with frequent complimentary shuttle service. There is a $2 fee for parking, but admission to the fair is free.
