Welcome to my Website

Thank you for choosing to visit my website. I am an Associate Broker with Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors in beautiful Cadillac, in northwestern Michigan. I have practiced in the real estate profession since 1990. My business model is rather simple; use my best efforts to help customers and clients meet their objectives. I represent their best interests not my own.

I began my career and education with Keith Johnson at Johnson And Associates of Cadillac. Keith guided my career and training from the ground up and helped me develop two of my favorite interests; people and property. I consider myself fortunate to be involved in important, interesting work. Important, because as property owners we tend to have especially strong ties to our homes and land. Our property in many cases is part of our identity. Interesting, because "under all is the land" to quote part of the Realtor Code Of Ethics. Real estate is non-portable, diverse and as unique as a fingerprint. Laws and practices involved in acquiring, enjoying, improving and selling real estate are complex. They need to be, in order to address ownership and to detail the 'bundle of rights' that may, or may not, be included in a given piece of property. Perhaps these principals are not of particular interest to you. They should be to your Realtor.

The bulk of my practice involves first or second homes, waterfront property, recreational property, estates, and large acreage parcels. I work in Wexford County and parts of Missaukee, Osceola and Lake Counties. The Schmidt Family of Coldwell Banker offices comprise 40 offices along the western half of Michigan. We are here to serve you and happy to help connect you with an office that specializes in your area. I hope you find what you are looking for. Please let me know if I can assist you.

Professional Interests

I am a member of the National Association Of Realtors and the Michigan Association Of Realtors. I belong to the Paul Bunyan Board Of Realtors, our local board, and have held a number of Board Of Directors positions here.

Habitat For Humanity provided me the opportunity to contribute to a wonderful local cause in a number of roles. From shoveling, shingling and framing to Board Of Directors, fund raising and site selection.

In 1999 I joined the Cherry Grove Township Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. The modern rural department responds to a variety of emergency calls in addition to structure fires. Examples include vehicle extracation and snowmobile or ice rescue. Cherry Grove Township has made it possible for many of us to acquire Medical First Responder training. In the fall/winter of 09 we will take that to the EMT-B level. Three years after joining the Fire Deptartment I became a member of the Cadillac Area Technical Rescue Team where we train and prepare for more specialized rescue scenarios including high angle rope rescue and trench or structure collapse.

These affiliations have allowed me to meet and work with community members and to appreciate the spirit that makes Cadillac so great.

Personal Background

Pamela, my wife of 34 years, and I are natives of Cadillac. We have two grown daughters pursuing careers in nursing. Pam worked for many years in retail grocery with Carters, Hamady and Kroger food stores. This year her favorite activity is spending time with our new gran-daughter. We are probably prejudiced but feel the Cadillac community is a wonderful place to work and to raise a family.

While our daughters were younger we lived on Lake Mitchell where we were able to pass on our love for sailing, fishing, swimming, water skiing and ice skating. We later scaled down to our present home which is situated on 23 acres just outside the city. Pam and I both enjoy landscape gardening. The acreage has a large pond so in addition to wandering the many paths and monitoring the critters we like to canoe or skate on the pond depending on the season. The Cadillac area, with it's lakes, rivers, ski area and proximity to State and Federal forests affords us a host of outdoor activities and adventures. We feel fortunate to have diverse recreational assets and to be a part of friendly yet progressive community that also offers educational and employment opportunities. Cadillac has it all, together.
