Personal Background

Cadillac became home for my family in 1987 when we chose to relocate from Minneapolis to Michigan as a result of a career transfer for my husband to the Yoplait USA, Reed City facility.  We found Cadillac to be a great place to raise our four children and spent many years attending music events, cross country races, tennis matches, and ski races.  Our family is now grown and while most of them have moved away from the area--Atlanta, GA; Denver, CO; Australia--they all enjoy coming home to northern Michigan.   During Michigan's beautiful summer season, we are drawn to the area's lakes and rivers--bass and salmon fishing are our main focus.  We are involved members of the Cadillac Christian Reformed Church.  It would be my pleasure to introduce you to this area we call home.  I look forward to meeting you.

"Exemption T"

Exemption "t" states that a seller may seek exemption from paying the state transfer tax if ALL of the following criteria are met:

1.  The property must have been occupied as a principle residence, classified as homestead property;

2.  The property's Sate Equalized Value (SEV) for the calendar year in which the transfer is made must be less than or equal to the property's SEV for the calendar year in which the transferor acquired the property; and

3.  The property cannot be transferred for consideration exceeding its true cash value for the year of the transfer.
