The City of East Jordan NOW HAS a single-stream recycling bin available 24/7. It's located off of Bartlett Street behind and to the east of the emergency Services Building. And remember..

you CAN RECYCLE these items in the recycling bins:
      • PET FOOD BAGS, FEED BAGS
      • CHIP & PRETZEL BAGS
      • AEROSAL CANS - MUST BE EMPTY!
      • MOTOR OIL BOTTLES - MUST BE EMPTY!
      • SMALL PROPANE CYLINDERS - MUST BE EMPTY!
      • PAINT CANS - MUST BE EMPTY!
      • Christmas lights :)
    • You can also put boat shrink wrap in the bin
  • SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING ~ NO SORTING!!!

    EVERYTHING GOES IN THE SAME BIN.

    Cardboard compactors are still for cardboard only.

    NEWSPAPERS including magazines, catalogs, telephone books, soft & hard cover books.
    OFFICE PAPER, file folders, envelopes, junk mail, colored office paper, construction paper, manila envelopes, kraft envelopes, gift wrap paper.

    CARDBOARD including corrugated & non-corrugated cardboard, pizza boxes, brown paper bags, cereal boxes, waxed cardboard, refrigerator & freezer boxboard (wet-strength layer).

    GLASS all colors of glass food and beverage containers.

    Plastic films, plastic grocery bags, "Styrofoam", shrink wrap, marine shrink wrap, stretch wrap, all plastic bags, cereal box liners, feed bags, pet food bags, chip & pretzel bags.

    Plastic buckets, plastic toys, plastic furniture, garden plastic.

    Plastics including #1 PET, #2 HDPE, #3 V, #4 LDPE, #5 PP, #6 PS and #7 Other, bottles, jugs and jars, also including all numbers of plastic household containers including wide-mouthed containers such as margarine and yogurt tubs, EMPTY motor oil bottles.

    TIN-plated steel cans & ALUMINUM cans including foil & trays, metal jar lids, small scrap metal and wire hangers, EMPTY aerosal cans, EMPTY small propane cylinders.

     

    NOTE: There are cardboard compactors located at the Boyne City & Charlevoix recycling sites, the East Jordan Transfer Station and the Melrose Township site (businesses are encouraged to use the compactors rather than the bins)


    Please don't bring the following things to the drop-off sites!

    NO batteries ~ they can be taken to the locations below.

    Household Alkaline batteries are accepted at: True Value in East Jordan; Radio Shack in Boyne City & Charlevoix; Charlevoix Conservation District in Boyne City; Charlevoix County Building & Ace Hardware in Charlevoix and the Beaver Island Transfer Station.  NOTE: Bring to HHHW collections or to the locations listed above. Thank you!
