July 3rd - the Eve of the celebration of this Great Nation's freedom. Never has this holiday meant so much to me. I'm in my 40s now, full time working mom & wife. My husband and me are both self employed and our daughter is 11 going on grown up. Yet out in the world away from our sheltered spot, which is Sunset Shores on Lake Cadillac this weekend, there are people running for their lives from terrorist and racists and biggots. Will any of them find peace for just this night? Prayers are constant and necessary.

Grateful and blessed are the only two sentiments that should be flowing from all parts of Northern Michigan tonight. The weather is perfect for kayaking, floating the rivers, boating, biking and all activities that take in the serenity, lush greenery and salt-free, shark-free waters abundant in our area.

Tomorrow we will rise to a new day filled with birds chirping, kids playing and families enjoying all kinds of FREEDOM. Take a moment to stop and appreciate it. Be Blessed everyone, be safe & be kind.
* Ah, relaxing finally. HAPPY 4th of July ~
