I have been a full time Traverse City Realtor since 2003 and have lived in Traverse City since 1992.  We have lived all over Traverse City- east side, west side, Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau Peninsula and I think every area around here is the best!

I graduated from Northwood University in 1980 with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing/ Management and an Associates Degree in Advertising.  I have lived in Florida, New York, Chicago and traveled extensively and I know there is no place as wonderful as NW Michigan.

I am married to Hank and we have two sons, Harrison is 15 and Alex is 13.  Hank is the Sales Manager for WJML Radio Station and also is the Varsity Baseball Coach for Mesick High School (go Bull Dogs!)   Harrison attends Traverse City West High School and works at Mistwood Golf Course in Lake Ann.  Alex attends West Middle School and plays baseball, basketball and football.  The boys enjoy the summer, but live for the winter and ski almost every night at Hickory Hills (Traverse City's hidden gem) and Crystal Mountain. 

In the summer we love to go to Empire, the Platte River, Long Lake, and many of the GT Bay and Lake Michigan beaches.  About every week in the summer our boys talk us into taking a group to the Cherry Bowl Drive In for fun, food and movies.

 


Buying A Foreclosure

 Many buyers are interested in purchasing a foreclosed property, but not all buyers qualify to buy a foreclosure or are good candidates to buy a foreclosure.  Purchasing a foreclosure can be very different than the traditional home buying process.  Traditionally when you write an offer on a home, the seller responds within 24 hours with a counter-offer, acceptance or rejection of your offer.  You typically have 10-14 days for your home inspection and we close in about 30 days from the date of your offer.  The house is usually still occupied and has been maintained.  

Purchasing a foreclosed property can get you more house for the money, but there are trade offs.  The banks have their own special forms and addendums and you have to meet their deadlines. Some foreclosed properties have broken plumbing and other issues and the bank may or may not fix.  There are foreclosed properties available that need a total overhaul and others that are in beautiful condition.   I list and sell foreclosed properties and can help walk you through the purchase process.  I love to work with buyers that are looking for their first home, their dream home or their vacation home.  Some foreclosures receive multiple offers the day they are listed, so it is important to work with a Realtor that is up to date on the market and housing inventory.  Before looking at properties you should talk to your lender and find out how much you are pre-approved for, loan programs available to you and if you will need any seller concessions.
