End of a Difficult Summer

It is September already. The fall real estate rush is beginning--with buyers hoping to pick up on bargains, buyers anxious to make up their minds, and sellers hoping to attract a buyer in this very difficult market.

Repos are doing well--but even that market is having a tough time. Everyone says they hope things will turn around after the election. That means not before next spring. It's sad--the people coming into the office looking for rentals. They've lost their homes, have children they need to get into school, have family pets. Rentals are few for these people. If they haven't ruined their credit with house payments, it is the pet issue. One woman recently told me, "My kids have lost the only home they know. Now I'm supposed to get rid of their dog."

I guess we can all hope for better days.

Kalkaska will be celebrating the yearly Trout Festival this weekend. It is a great time to come see where small town America still thrives. The Parade is on Saturday, April 26th. Plenty of things going on at the fair grounds, and our Coldwell Banker--Kalkaska office invites everyone to stop by for a hot dog and a tour and some small talk.
