DREAM MAKER

My wife Cathie and I moved to the Kalkaska area from downstate Tri-County area to get a bit of the good life in 2003. I retired from Daimler Chrysler after 33 1/2 years and also ran my electrical contracting business for over 20 years. Our dream was to find that perfect spot to build our retirement home. Well we found it! Now our family from downstate, two daughters and their husbands, plus our seven grandchildren have a place to come and relax and enjoy everything nature and this area has to offer. I came out of retirement because I want to help you find your dream and enjoy the beauty of nature and the quiet and peace that Kalkaska and surrounding areas have to offer.

With my business background, ability to solve problems and background in finance and investing, I feel will give me an edge to serve your needs better, whether you are buying a dream or selling a dream to someone else. With the resources of Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors and the services I can provide to you, I will make your home or property experience a dream come true.

Professional Background

Being a "Boomer" that retired at an early age and starting in another career in Real Estate I have held a number of positions with many responsibilities and experiences:

  • I was a Sergeant in the USMC serving in Vietnam.
  • I was a store manager for Radio Shack.
  • I worked for Chrysler in many capacities as a production and maintenance foreman, production worker and electrician.
  • I have been a member of the UAW for over 30 years.
  • I am also a Master Electrician and ran my own business for over 20 years as a side job. I still maintain my license.
  • I am a licensed Realtor.

One thing in common with each of these positions is the ability to solve problems which is something needed when buying and selling property.

Professional Interests

I have always been interested in business, investing and real estate, at present:

  • I am President of Blue Heron Restort Home Owners Association in Kalkaska.

Personal Background

I am originally from down state. I have lived in East Detroit, Saint Clair Shores, Warren, Harrison Township, East China and Chesterfield Township, now Orange Township in Michigan as well as Torrance California while I was serving my last nine months in the service.  I have rented and bought my share of properties in the past, everything from new builds in subdivisions to fixer uppers and extensive redo's.  Being in the trades and dealing with builders and contractors in the past has given me a unique opportunity to see thing many people over look in choosing a property.

Personal Interests

As some one that has worked long and many hours most of my life I like to relax and take things easy when ever the opportunity arises.  I like to travel with my wife to many places.  Road trips in good weather to places in Michigan or winter trips to Florida, Mexico and other warm spots to break the "Cabin Fever" that comes with winter.  Traveling down state to see our family and spend time with the grand kids is a big joy to us as well as staying with friend for special outings.

Watching sports when I can on the "Tube" is good and going to see the Local Beach Bums in Traverse City is best.  We also like to dine out at many of the local and not to distant eateries.  There are many in the area and we hope to try most but do have our favorites that we return to.  Cooking and Bar-B-Q'g is also a favorite past time.  I also make a really good Polish Kielbasa once a year for the holidays.  Bike riding in the area and on the Tart Trail has become a summer past time.  When we travel down state to see family and friends we take our bikes if we plan to stay awhile.  Fishing off my dock with my grand sons is something I look forward

I also enjoy using the computer and dabbling in the stock market.  I have been investing for many years and I still learn something every day.
