Welcome to my Website

I was fortunate my ancestors (Nye and Hamel) settled here, allowing me to grow up in the Les Cheneaux Islands. Living in Hessel during those years gave me a true appreciation of the natural beauty of our area.
I attended Hessel Grade School, graduated from Cedarville High School, married my classmate, John Griffin, and moved to Plymouth, Michigan. Our two children were born in Garden City, and we remained in the downstate area for 8 years, living in Northville, South Lyon, and again in Plymouth - before giving in to the home ties of the Les Cheneaux Islands, moving back home in 1969.
John opened Cedar Tool Inc., and I found employment in the accounting department at the U. S. Steel Limestone Quarry for the next 10 years. Since then I have been in the Retail Business, starting with a partnership in the Woodshed Gift Shop for several years and currently have my own store, Hessel Marketplace. I make baskets, and with my Mom, write original basket patterns which are sold wholesale to shops throughout the MidWest.
My husband and I treasure our daughter, son, daughter-in-law and our 3 grandchildren. What a joy to see life through their eyes! It is wonderful so many of our relatives

My husband and I treasure our daughter, son, daughter-in-law and our 3 grandchildren. What a joy to see life through their eyes! It is wonderful so many of our relatives still reside in Hessel and in Cedarville. Family is very important to us. We enjoy boating in our beautiful area, but I confess I especially have a passion for snowmobiling. Winter is the Best.
Through the years I have been active/supported many civic organizations and clubs: Les Cheneaux Chamber of Commerce, the Historical Assoc., Snowmobile Club, Sportsman Club, Art Council, Artisan Co-op, N.C. Basket Guild, MI Assoc. of Basketmakers, MI Snowmobile Assoc., Little Traverse Conservancy, Nature Conservancy, and the Les Cheneaux Foundation. My favorite chartity is Michigan Easter Seals. I have raised funds for the past twelve years by participating in the annual "For Women Only" Snowmobile ride for Easter Seals- funds raised stay in our area, used where they are most needed.
I enjoy meeting new people and sharing our wonderful area, the Les Cheneaux Islands. It was, for me, a very natural decision to become a Realtor. I look forward to helping you.
