Thanks for visiting my website!

I'm a life long resident of Benzie County, but my roots run deeper than that. My father's family was among the first to settle in Benzonia, and my mother's ancestors include one of the early keepers of the Point Betsie Lighthouse. I find my connections to the community to be a great asset, and combine these connections with a strong belief in and understanding of technology to give my buyers and sellers every possible advantage.

I believe constant learning and professional growth are essential to bringing my customers and clients the best possible service.  I help people buy and sell residential and vacant property, vacation homes, investment and commercial property throughout Benzie and Northern Manistee County and the surrounding area.  I am Past President of the Association, and currently serve as a Director to the Michigan Association of REALTORS.  In 2007 I was selected as TAAR Realtor of the Year.

Whether you're thinking about buying or considering selling, or just wondering how current market conditions affect you, I'd love to hear from you. Email me at matt@2cases.com, call or just stop by the office- I am here to serve you!

Professional Interests

I am an admitted technophile, and an avid user of social networks and the internet in my business.  I've designed my own web sites and do some blogging as well.  I served as a director of the Benzie County Board of REALTORS before it merged with the Traverse Area Association of REALTORS, and subsequently served as a director to TAAR, eventually becoming President of that association.

I take great pleasure in learning and networking with other agents around the country, and have taken part in several Real Estate BarCamps and attended numerous national real estate conferences.

Currently I'm working to launch a REALTOR Young Professionals Network for the State of Michigan.

Personal Background

I graduated from Northwood University in Midland Michigan with a BBA in Marketing and an AA in Management in 1996.  I then worked in advertising at Ross Roy Communications in Bloomfield Hills for two years before deciding to return to my home town.

I began selling real estate in 1998, and worked several side jobs that first year while I got started, including bar tending at Crystal Downs Country Club near Frankfort and doing all sorts of miserable sweaty jobs related to several development projects my parents were involved in.

I married my college sweetheart, Tammy, in 1997 and we have three sons who keep us very active.  Winters family time is spent skiing, sledding and snowmobiling, while summertime will find us camping and playing on Crystal Lake.

Personal Interests

I enjoy golf, being outdoors, reading, boating, my family, and life in general.

For the past few years I've played in a golf league that alternates between Pinecroft and Champion Hill golf courses.

I also have coached T-Ball teams for the past 4 years, with no expectation of ever graduating to higher levels.  I'm no baseball aficionado, and if I can just get these kids having fun and starting to make their first athletic decisions, I figure that's success.

I downhill ski a little, with my kids.  My 9 year old is already a better skiier than I am, and definitely far more adventurous on the slopes.

My father and I have a cabin in the Upper Peninsula that we get away to from time to time.  My kids love it, though with no power and no running water, it's a bit rustic for most of the ladies in the family.
