Welcome to my Website and the West Michigan Lakeshore!

The beauty of the Western Michigan Lakeshore is priceless. Having been in and around the real estate business for over twenty years, coming back to Grand Haven and my Family's roots has been a wonderfully rewarding experience.

Yes, the Western Michigan Lakeshore and it's people certainly offer an abundance of wonderful experiences for everyone!

And, talk about a tradition. Did you know that the "de Spelder" Family, straight from the Netherlands, was buying and selling real estate in the Tri-Cities area as early as 1850?

Personal Background

Although Grand Haven is "home", stints in Cuba, St. Louis, MO., San Diego, CA, St. Claire Shore, MI, St. Igance, MI, Marshall, MI, Grand Rapids, MI and Lansing, MI have endeared me to many friends, students and colleagues across the country that are very precious.

Professional Background

Having graduated from Marshall High School in Calhoun County, my college "career" at Michigan State University provided many more "professional" experiences than ever imagined. Apon earning my bachelors degree, I went on to earn my Masters and Educational Specialists Degree while working on my Doctorate in Curriculum Development and teaching in the College of Teacher Education at M.S.U. and Jackson and Lansing Community Colleges.

Teaching and coaching were (and are) in my blood but my Lansing experience rewarded me with the opportunity to work as a government affairs executive with the Michigan Manufactures Association (MMA) as I initiated their Small Manufacturers Council and Natural Resources Department. That position led to taking over the Executive Directors position with the Michigan Association of the Professions (MAP) representing 13 professions and over 3,500 members. Government Affairs is still a passion that drives me today!

The lure of the real estate business came calling. After spending a number of years marketing MISHDA rural housing projects across ten states and earning my securities license, I started my own business working with investors and developing recreational properties. Eventually, those experiences led to running a nationally branded food service program for the Sara Lee Corporation and coordinating buildouts throughout the United States.
