Grandville MI is located in the southwest corner of Kent County MI and SW of Grand Rapids MI. It is one of the oldest suburbs of Grand Rapids and was incorporated as a city in 1933. The most recent census of 2010 indicates a population of 15,378.
The city was named due to its proximity to the Grand River and developed due to its importance as a location critical to the logging industry. It's location at the "river bend" made it important for folks in the logging industry to have workers physically positioned along the river to prevent logjams at the bend in the river as it turned toward Lake Michigan and Grand Haven.
The Grandville School District is desired by many families while others send children to the various charter and private schools that are located within the immediate area. Grandville is across the city boundary from Rivertown Crossings, the largest regional mall in the area. The downtown area has recently undergone an extensive street-scape renovation and area businesses are increasing and providing more shopping options for residents and visitors.
