Lake Michigan and Frankfort
Every day I come to work I drive to the beach in Frankfort and stop for a minute and just take in the beauty of the lake. Lake Michigan never gets boring to look at. The color of the water, the wave action on the piers and lighthouse, the color of the sky, and best of all, the sunsets. I'm fortunate to be here every day but I don't take it for granted. I've travelled to some great spots around the country and so far, this region of Michigan offers some of the most natural beauty I've seen. Starting this summer, people will be able to experience the lake and the beauty of the land like never before. A new boat cruise will begin operation in June, offering day trips to the Sleeping Bear Dunes and a sunset cruise around the Frankfort and Pt. Betsie Lighthouse area. As the property manager at Harbor Lights Resort in Frankfort, I constantly ask guests what they like about us and the area. Almost everyone has a similar response. Being able to stay at the beach and walk into town is a big reason. People can park their cars and never have to drive during their stay if they don't want to. There are great restaurants and shops, a movie theater, grocery store, parks, etc, all within walking distance. But the biggest draw is the lake and the beach. The beach in Frankfort really is a world class beach. It's wide with soft sand and no rocks. It really is a unique part of the lake.
