Specialties in Big Rapids Real Estate - Mecosta County Real Estate and more
Because of my many years in the area and sports involvement, it seems a natural fit that I would specialize in some of the real estate in the Big Rapids and Mecosta County area.
To that end, we have extensive resort, cottage, lake front and sports properties. My first sale was a $385,000, 7 bedroom, three bath home that sat up on a hill overlooking a beautiful lake. There are more of these types of homes that regularly become available.
We also have vacant land and forest land available for the hunter. Much of the forest is also harvestable.
There is a significant farm community in the area that includes Amish farms, larger Dairy and some swine.
It seems that, through my early years of serious Real Estate work, I have found myself working with a significant number of commercial clients. This is not something I pursued, but I would suppose that my many years of business experience and my contacts through out the area have pushed me in that direction.
The bottom line is simple, for me. Persistent dedicated client service right to the successful completion of their transaction.
As a youth, we made regular trips to a cottage in the Mecosta, Michigan area. Born and raised in Michigan, we were involved in all of the year round sports activities. Hunting, Fishing, Water Skiing, Snow Skiing, Football, Track and a little basketball and baseball in the sand lots thrown in. The eldest of 3 boys, we kept our parents busy through high school.
After College at Macomb County Community College in the late sixties, my wife and I began raising three lovely children in the Royal Oak area. A business venture with my brother failed and we moved back from Lansing to Royal Oak.
In the Mid 70's my new wife and I were transferred to Texas, then Pennsylvania in the mid 80's and ultimately we were moved to Delaware. In the early 90's we moved back home to Michigan and settled in the Mecosta Area to finish our working years and spend our retirement.
Here we are, sort of retired but, working in the Real Estate field and loving every minute of it.
Having renewed my license, I am now back in the Real Estate business. My previous experience was in the very early 1990's at McClure Realty in Mecosta.
Since that point in time, I have been managing various stores and restaurants throughout the Big Rapids, Howard City area. A short period of time managing a restaurant in Grand Rapids, was followed by a Convenience Store Manager position in Big Rapids. This was followed by a Manager position in the Howard City Truck Stop.
While Managing the M-46 Auto/Truck Plaza in Howard City, I was involved in an automobile accident and my wife and I, both, received broken necks. After a very lengthy recovery, I have chosen to return to Real Estate and pursue additional customer service work.
It has always been my philosophy that there are two rules to customer service.
Rule #1 - The Customer Is Always Right
Rule #2 - If the Customer is Wrong, see Rule #1
Prior to 1990, my work experiences include business ownership, truck driving, truck dispatching, traffic manager and warehouse manager.
With my wife, we have lived in Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania, Delaware and back to Michigan. It was great to come home in 1990.
While in several of my positions, it became possible to be able to give to my community.
I became President of the Montcalm County Panhandle Area Chamber of Commerce.
Attended the Leadership Montcalm curriculum.
Was a founding board member of the Montcalm County Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking.
Also a founding board member of Drug free Montcalm.
Member of the Martiny Township board of Review.
Two years of college after attending Kimball High School in Royal Oak, Michigan.

I am the past President of the Montcalm County Panhandle Area Chamber of Commerce.
Founding board member of the Montcalm Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking. A community based coalition to work with area stake holders and businesses to promote and encourage safe and alcohol free youth activities.
Founding board member of the Drug Free Montcalm. An extension of the Montcalm Coalition to Prevent Underage Drinking that was a natural as alcohol is a drug.
Over the years I have held several interests. Of course, I still enjoy watching football, basketball and baseball.
While in Pennsylvania, Delaware and, after returning to Michigan, I found golf to be extremely relaxing and satisfying. I wasn't all that good, but I did enjoy realizing a relatively steady period of improvement. Never did break 90.
Presently, I spend my time with my Real Estate Career, my wife's Home Based Business, exercising regularly and some travel.
