My name is Bart Ford and I was born in Franfort, Michigan on July 4, 1976. My parents Richard and Susan Ford adopted me in September of 1976. I spent the first three years of my life in a bi-level style home on Kaukauna Ct in Traverse City, Michigan. My mom, dad, two sisters Wendy and Robin, and I then moved to the base of the Peninsula in 1979. We all became infatuated with the water spending time swimming, boating, fishing, and ice skating. I went to Eastern Elementary School, West Junior High, and Central High School. I participated in varios sports (Junior Varsity Ski Team, Varsity Tennis Team), Boy Scouts, Olympics of the Mind, and attended the First Congregational Church. In the fall of 1994 I moved to Missoula, Montana where I attended college and worked until 2001. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and worked for Missoula Youth Homes until 2001. Then I did something I didn't think I would ever do...I moved back to Traverse City. I got my real estate license in July of 2002 and have worked at Coldwell Banker/Schmidt Realtors since then. I love working with/for Ken, Mike, Fred Jr., and Tom Gray. They are easy to talk to, always there when you need them, and respected in our community. I was just hired as a recruiting specialist in 2008 and look forward to getting more involved in Traverse City's luxury home market.
My professional background starts at age fifteen when I began teaching tennis professionally. I worked with Chris Michalowski at the Grand Traverse Resort for three years starting in 1991. I also taught tennis at the YMCA and at Central High School with Larry Nykerk. I worked as the Head Tennis Professional at the Traverse City Golf and Country Club in the summers of 1994 and 1995. I was an independent contractor and worked under Jim Cartwright. I was in charge of sceduling, billing, ordering equipment, and teaching private and group lessons. I received my Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Montana in 2000. I worked for Missoula Youth Homes while working towards this degree and when I completed my studies. I began as a volunteer, became a relief care worker, completed my seior thesis as a practicum student, and eventually became a primary care worker. This degree goes hand in hand with my real estate career. It taught me how to work with people in high stress/crisis situation. Whether it be writing an offer, negociating terms, explaining contracts, or listening to client concerns; my Social Work background prepared me for all aspects of helping people. The real estate field is where my passion lies. I love working with buyers, sellers, banks, lenders, title companies, and other agents. Whether it be helping an investor find a rental property, attending a closing with a first time home buyer, or showing a family their dream home; my goal is the same Work Until the Client is Satisfied.
