Professional Background

  • Owner of Jam Graphic Design for 25 years: providing clients with the best graphic design and printing services. This business was built by word-of-mouth advertising from happy clients who value great design and communication.

  • Communications Director at Harbor Churches, Hudsonville, Michigan for three years providing graphic design and direction for clear and concise communication. While employed, this church expanded from one church location to five! Yes – there was a lot of coordination going on!

  • Marketing Coordinator for a large construction company in Grand Rapids, Michigan who specialized in interior finishes. The accomplishment I am most proud of during my time there was the compilation of a portfolio showcasing their many projects with images, cost, if the schedule was met, etc. They had been in existence for 50 years without a clear marketing message of what they could do.

  • Past Adjunct Professor at Grand Valley State University teaching an introduction to Graphic Design course to students majoring in advertising.

Professional Interests

  • Was a member of BNI (Business Networking International) for three years. I served as Secretary, Vice President, and as President of a chapter in Grand Rapids with about 26 members.
  • Director of a special needs ministry at Fair Haven Church for three years. Working with a leadership of five members, we would raise volunteers and organize respite events for adults with disabilities.

Personal Background

I am a Michigan girl through and through! While growing up near Grand Rapids, Michigan we spent vacations coming north for skiing, biking, and boating. After raising my two sons in West Michigan, I now have the opportunity to live, work, and play in Northern Michigan full-time! WOO-HOO… I am finally here.

My husband, Doug Gillespie, is the Building and Grounds Director at Camp Hayo-Went-Ha located right on beautiful Torch Lake. Ask me how we met sometime! (People are always saying there should be a movie about our story!) We love exploring the property.

Personal Interests

I am an athlete and am happiest when outside… hiking, running, swimming, biking, snow shoeing, skiing, kayaking… pretty much anything. I love competing in local events and races. Also, my passion is helping people feel amazing again by flooding their body with amazing nutrition. I am aligned with a health and nutrition company in my free time and we specialize in helping people lose weight, gain energy, increase their athletic performance, and help with healthy aging.

A pivotal moment I had in life was when I crossed the finish line of my first 25k, and then again completing my first olympic distance triathlon. I knew this before, but having a solidified action and a finish line to cross sealed it – when we work hard enough at anything, day after day, committed to the outcome, we will succeed. Whether in athletic endeavors, work, or other goals – the motivation level will determine the results.

Of course one of our favorite places to eat is Short's Brewing Company. Naturally they have amazing beer. But, what I also love, is that even if you're not a beer drinker their food is amazing. One of my favorites was dill pickle soup they had last winter - oh my goodness so amazing!
