Northern Michigan resort homes and condos have been steadily climbing in value over the last 3 years, at least in the Antrim County area. According to the Traverse Area Association of Realtors, from 2011-2012, The Shanty Creek Resorts had 26 properties sold with an average selling price of $120,000 per property. In the same period for 2012-2013, 32 homes and condos sold for an average of $132,700 per unit. The same period in 2013-2014 resulted in 33 units sold for an average of $138,800. These figures are for homes listed between $40,000 & $300,000.
While this shows that the resort home market is coming back, the prices also show that homes and condos in The Shanty Creek Resorts are still a remarkable bargain. With everything the resort has to offer, from world class skiing that includes 53 downhill runs, 30km of cross country trails, snow shoeing, even dogsledding for the winter minded, some of the most beautiful golf courses, including Arnold Palmer designed "Legend" and Tom Weiskopf designed Cedar River Golf Course, the local lakes, Torch, Bellaire, & Lake Michigan all close by for the boater and fisherman, the rivers for the kayaks and canoes, and of course the natural beauty of the area, along with the location so near to other great destinations like Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, & Gaylord.
There are places that are great winter vacation areas, and some are great summer getaway spots, but it's rare to find a place that offers the year around enjoyment that Shanty Creek Resorts & the surrounding area offer.
With mortgage rates still incredibly low, this may be the best time ever to think about thOnat family getaway, retirement place, golf or ski condo, or just a cool place to get away to when you can, and put into rental service when you can't, and let your rental income help pay for your vacation home.
