HISTORY

Once the seat of the area's industry and a major railroad center during the lumbering era of the late 1800's Bellaire was organized under the name Keno in 1879 and changed to Bellaire on May 26, 1880.  The ease of transportation and local forestry materials led to industry and population expansion.  The beauty of the Bellaire area is as intact as ever!   Woods, water, hills and golfing meca defines the Bellaire area.

Bellaire is the nucleas of beautiful clean waters of the Chain O' Lakes which includes 17 mile long Torch Lake, one of the country's cleanest and most beautiful bodies of water that has been publicized as the 3rd most beautiful Lake in the world.  The presite Cedar River and Craven Pond where the village operates a public campground and park,  offers wonderful fishing for several species of trout, as well as picnic areas and hiking trails.
